Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

This section is where you can find out out about what we've been up to when we get around to updating. You'll no doubt notice plenty of gaps between posts, but don't worry, this should just reassure you that instead of tinkering with our own website, we are more than likely up to our eyes working someone else's!

freedrawing book

Black& White Freedrawing Book.

Steven was asked by Dutch designer Zeptonn to be one of the contributors to his new book which has been commissioned by one of Holland's largest paper companies to be sent to major advertising agencies as a promotional tool.

The premise involves Zeptonn collaborating with other international designers by starting a drawing that others can then take on and add to before passing it back and forth till it's done.

It's an interesting little project, and we can't wait to see the finished result.

denis o brown

Denis O. Brown Associates.

Denis O Brown approached us on recommendation to undertake the identity work for themselves - having being established for over 20 years, the company had never used professional design - but had identified the need to visually better represent the company and its values.

With the client having little experience of the design process and the various considerations involved, we decided to closely involve them at all stages in the development of their logo. Working with them in this way proved to be beneficial to both client and ourselves in easily establishing and identifying the best visual approach to take with the project, and initial exploratory work with Denis O Brown in this area proved to be highly accurate and representative of the finished results. The finalised logo proved to be one which both the client and Baseline were fully delighted with.

charles eames design rocker chair, part of the six cities design festival event

Six Cities Design Festival.

The much touted Six Cities Design Festival hit Scotland mid-May with events across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness.

We got involved in some Stirling events which saw us designing promotional material for a massive game of musical chairs on the 19th May. We designed and produced some origami chairs which kids could then draw and colour to make their own chair to take home.

After that one, we all headed up to the Tolbooth to see the legendary Peter Saville, designer of some of the most iconic record covers of the last 20 years which you can read about on the blog.

The Bank Bar/Café,
Glasgow

We've just finished work on the identity and supporting literature for The Bank - a new Bar/Café recently opened in Glasgow by Maclay Inns.

Inspired by the building's old role, The Bank uses a classic serif typeface to create a regal, financial feel, and touches such as menus in the style of chequebooks add a quirky touch.
